Mark Chayer Stahl

Mark Stahl was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of the late Rev. Roland and Elizabeth (Boyajian) Stahl. He graduated from Classical High School in Providence, RI and entered Yale in September 1962. Freshman Year he roomed with Frank Haynes and Joe Wolf in Bingham Hall. He later graduated from Florida State with a degree in Computer Sciences. He worked for fifteen years at CVS Corporate Office, Woonsocket, in the IT department as a highly regarded programmer.

He was a lifelong anti-war/peace activist and helped found the Vietnam Day Committee in Berkeley, Calif., which organized the landmark ‘teach in’ on the Vietnam war in April 1965. One of the primary speakers was Dr. Benjamin Spock. He continued his activism in R.I. as a founding member of several antiwar groups.

Mark died on May 26, 2022 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. For fifteen years Mark had managed a progressive heart condition along with his physicians. He was survived by a brother, John Stahl, of Laytonville, California as well as nieces Jade and Garnet. He was also survived by several cousins and close friends.
