Steven M. Fleisher

Died: May 3, 2007

Steven M. Fleisher died on May 3, 2007, from pancreatic cancer. Born in Chicago, he was the son of Meta and Max Fleisher. He prepared for Yale at the New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. At Yale, he served on the Yale Daily News. After graduating from Harvard Law School, he embarked on a 30-year career as an attorney in the San Francisco Bay Area, most recently serving as the senior director of corporate compliance and privacy for Blue Shield of California. Steve’s life was committed to service. He was perhaps best known for his work as general counsel to the Mata Amritanandamayi Center, a humanitarian service organization in San Ramon, California. Steve also contributed time to California Rural Legal Aid, Native American Legal Defense and the California Department of Health Services/Consumer Affairs Division. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and daughter, Rachel.
